New Jersey State Required Cannabis Course

In 2022 the NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission mandated that all plant touching operators and participants in the state’s industry must undergo a background check and take a required cannabis course. The NJ State Required Cannabis Handler Course is the official course which all cannabis workers must pass to remain compliant with New Jersey state law. This online class ensures that cannabis employees are educated and informed.

The badging and compliance process applies to all cannabis-handling employees. The NJCRC (New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission) has mandated that employees must undergo a background check and complete the required educational course within 90 days of their first day of employment, and employers must provide evidence that employees are taking a required course when their company’s SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) are reviewed by a State compliance officer.

The NJ State Required Cannabis Handler Course satisfies this educational course requirement. Companies who have multiple employees should consider securing a site license- a yearly agreement that will allow all employees to take the course on an ongoing basis. Contact Rob Mejia at rob@ourcommunityharvest.com for more details. NB: Badging and mandatory course requirement regulations are spelled out in Administrative Code 17:30-8.1.
